How to Stay Motivated When Working Out

We are officially into month two of the new year (and the new decade)! How are you doing with your goals so far this year? If you are slacking a little more than you’d like to be, we’re sharing some tips on how you can get back on track. We’re going to help ensure you are making progress toward reaching your grand goals even when you are lacking the motivation to head to the gym.

Find an accountability partner.

How many times do you skip the gym simply because you don’t feel like going? If your answer is “too many”, then we suggest finding a gym buddy that workouts at the same time as you. If you have someone expecting you to show up so that you can workout together, you are much more likely to honor that commitment.

Develop habits.

Habits remain far long after your motivation has disappeared. Sometimes you may not want to wake up early for a sweat session before work, but if you incorporate this into your daily routine, getting out of bed so early will soon become a no-brainer. We suggest starting with one habit and expanding to other healthy habits one at a time after each one sticks.

Set goals.

Determine WHY you are working out in the first place. Your overall goal can and should be a motivator to make it to the gym. If your workout goal seems lofty, think of smaller goals that can help you work toward obtaining that monumental objective. If you need a constant reminder, we suggest writing down your goal somewhere where you will see it every single day.

Think of the post-exercise feeling.

Don’t you feel so accomplished after you crush your workout? Keep that in mind when you aren’t feeling your best, and remember you will feel so much better after you just do it!
